7 TOP tips for job seekers, from recruiters to you!

Finding a new job in a different country can feel exciting but sometimes also a little overwhelming. The whole process is a bit different for everyone, but everyone wants it to be fast, easy and- most importantly- successful. Our recruiters work with hundreds of candidates every year. These are the tips they wish every job seeker knew.

1. Be honest about your skills
Recruiters don’t expect perfection, but they do expect honesty. Every question that they ask is asked for a specific reason so if you’re being dishonest about your skill there is a high chance that it will be visible during your future job. Be clear about your experience, preferences, what you feel comfortable and confident in and in what not necessarily. When we understand your real strengths, we can match you with the right job- not just any job.

2. Make sure your CV is up to date
One of the most important things in your CV is your work experience. Make sure to include all your recent workplaces and positions. All the certificates on your CV should also be valid. If they are not, don’t be afraid to mention it! They still show your skills and experience.

3. Fast responses matter
In technical and production sectors, jobs move quickly. If a recruiter calls or messages you, answering fast can make the difference between getting the job or missing it. If you can’t answer or talk, send a quick message back or mention a time frame in which you can reach back. It shows motivation and reliability.

4. Be flexible
The best opportunities often go to people who are flexible and willing to grow. Companies love candidates who show initiative. Especially if you have multiple skills- if we won’t have an offer for you in one position, maybe we will have a different one!

5. Make sure you have all the necessary documents
To start working quickly, make sure you have a valid ID or passport. While moving to a different country it is crucial to have all the necessary documents. If you worked in the Netherlands before, make sure to find your BSN number. All the certificates or permissions that are necessary for some of the jobs also need to be prepared and ready. Having everything ready makes the hiring process smooth and fast.

6. Ask questions
Recruiters appreciate candidates who want to understand the job. If you have any questions or doubts, you should ask straight away. Recruiters want you to fit the job as much as you do. If you feel like a job is not for you or have an extra question about the hiring process or employment- don’t feel afraid to ask.

7. Be reliable
Experience is not always the most important thing. It is needed but what really is important is to be a reliable worker. Showing up on time, following safety rules, growing and communicating is a real key to long-term, steady employment. Reliable workers always get more opportunities.

Finding a job is easier when you’re not doing it alone. Recruiters are here to guide you, support you, and connect you with opportunities that match your skills and goals. With good communication, honesty, and a willingness to grow, you can build a strong career in the Netherlands- and we’re here to help you every step of the way.
